IPL 2024, RR vs MI: ‘Confident’ Yashasvi Jaiswal doesn’t need advice from anyone, says Sanju Samson

RR skipper Sanju Samson has claimed that Yashasvi Jaiswal doesn’t need advice from anyone after the youngster roared back into form on Monday, April 22 with a hundred against MI. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 104 as he put behind a sticky patch in the IPL 2024 season behind him.

With the T20 World Cup selection around the corner, Jaiswal hit form at the right time and Samson was asked who made the youngster sit down for a pep talk to get back into form, after scoring just 121 runs in his previous 7 knocks. The RR skipper said that Jaiswal is a confident player and it was all just a matter of one game for him.

“I don’t think he needs (advice from) anyone (Jaiswal). He’s very confident. Was about one game,” said Samson.

Jaiswal hit 9 boundaries and 7 sixes in his knock of 104 from 60 balls as RR signed off from the Sawai Mansingh stadium for the season with a 9-wicket win.

Where RR won the game against MI?

Samson heaped praise on all the players for their win against MI as they started off the powerplay well with the ball. The RR skipper said that Tilak Verma and Nehal Wadhera played well against the spinners of RR but felt that they won the game in the backend when Trent Boult, Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma pulled things back for them.

“Credit has to go to all the players. Started well in the powerplay. In the middle, the left-handers played unbelievably. But the way we came back was where we won the game. Wicket looked a bit dry. But when lights come in, gets colder in the night, it gets better to bat in the second innings,” said Samson.

Sandeep would end up getting a 5-wicket haul to restrict MI to 179 in their first innings and set up the match for Jaiswal. With the win, RR extended their lead at the top to 14 points, making them ever so close to reaching the playoffs this season.

RR will now face LSG in their next game in Lucknow on April 27.
